Dave has been a Snohomish County resident
for 26 years and has served the last four years as your State
Senator along with eight prior years as the State Representative in the 44th District. During
his tenure, he has served as Chairman of the Government
Administration and Special Elections Committees. He currently serves
as co-chair for the legislative
Select Committee for Military and Veterans Affairs and Ranking
Member of the Senate Early Learning, K-12 and Higher Education
Committee. He
also served as Chair of the Technology and Communications
Committee, Vice-Chairman of the House Appropriations Committee
and has been a member of the Education, Higher Education, Transportation, Community
Security Committee, State Government, Economic Development and
Financial and Insurance Committees.
Dave's
interim task force/committee assignments include the WA
Learns Commission, WA Elections Training and Certification
Board, Capitol Projects Advisory Review Board, K-20 Technology
Board and others.
He is a member of the National Council
of State Legislators, American Legislative Exchange Council, and he serves as an
executive committee member of the Council of State
Governments/West.
He has been a member of the Washington Army
National Guard for 23 years. He was called to active
duty during the 1st Persian Gulf War, following the crisis of
September 11th and last year spent one month in Louisiana for
Hurricane Katrina relief duty.
Dave's work for us in Olympia has won
numerous awards, including the Council of State
Government's Henry Toll Fellow Award. He is one of only
23 state legislators in the country to earn this prestigious
honor. Dave has repeatedly won won the National Federation of
Independent Business Guardian of Small Business Award and the
Association of WA Business Cornerstone Award. He recently
received the "Families Matter Man of Vision Award"
from the United Way of Snohomish County and was recognized for
extraordinary work in supporting affordable housing for the
Manufactured Housing Communities of WA. |
